Hey folks! It seems that most Instragrammers think that a condom is a dirty word or device. Or, if they see the picture of one illustrating a post, they don’t read the message along with it, but conclude it’s a post which is wanting to connect with pages objectifying oneself, or passing lewd comments on sex. Sex education is blashphemy, or a taboo topic. So, it’s better to avoid it as it’s after all dirty talk. Let kids learn from the parent that the stork flew from heaven with them. Carrying a child in a woman’s womb is also unfit for her/ him to be heard. It is better that he/ she watches maybe rape videos with friends to understand what sex is all about. That’s how they should indeed learn about it. Do you know that kids may turn to misinformation from ignorant people when parents ban, or discourage theoretical discussions on sex? Or better still, let them get pregnant when they aren’t ready for it, or get infected with an STD. Oh…you don’t think that’ll happen to your ‘good

Who invented shampoo? Shampoo was mentioned as early as 4 th century BCE by Greek historian Strabo when he was penning about how Indians washed their hair. It emanates from the Indian word ‘champo’ which means to knead, or massage. In the 1500s, Indians were using soap berry pulp mixed with hibiscus flowers, and herbs to cleanse their hair. British traders who were sailing between India and England, introduced it to Europe. The foremost shampoos in the market were in the shape of bar soap. They started coming in the form of liquid later.   Tutu Bhutu Bhutu had run away for 48 hours because of two ruffian male cats in our building who continuously mate with her. I want to hospitalize her when I spay her, the main animal hospital is far away. With Covid numbers rising, I cannot go now. I don’t want to take the risk of getting her operated by a local vet with little knowledge, and keeping her at home when she’s recovering. While she was missing, her two ‘husbands’ fought amongst themselves, perhaps on her. They rolled on the ground, and had the most acrimonious fights both on two and four legs. They hissed, yowled, screamed, shrieked, and bled. Bhutu is back, but is too afraid to come to eat. Her frenemy Tutu has been glum faced ever since, as he is missing her. #TutuBhutu, #cat, #cats, #kitten, #kittens, #feline, #felines, #petsofinstagram, #vet, #vets, #veterinary, #doctor, #spay, #neuter, #baby, #mate, #mating, #frenemy, #catfight, #yowl, #mew, #purr, #hiss, #Covid, #Corona, #pandemic, #catfight, #pet, #pets, #

Fairy Tales I feel that fairy tales have literary finesse, and aesthetic appeal because of their beautiful narrative style, language, and parts of the plot; though it’s true that they mainly counter the message of feminism. So, maybe we can tell our kids the stories, but also explain to children how unfair to girls, and women these stories are. #fairy, #fairies, #tales, #fairytales, #language, #literature, #girls, #women, #feminism, #misogyny, #patriarchy Picture courtesy: https://pixabay.com/photos/fantasy-fairy-tale-cinderella-5692581/ (Image by  Angeline 1  from  Pixabay )

Baby making The 12 year old daughter of someone I know asked how a baby is born. She replied that light of the full moon fell on her belly. Is this a wonderful answer? Most parents in our locality give such answers, or beat, or punish a child when they ask this question. #baby, #sex, #pregnancy, #parenting, #lovemaking, #sexeducation, #moon, #moonbeams, #fullmoon Picture courtesy: https://pixabay.com/photos/vulva-coloring-sex-education-4075818/

Popeye Juice This blend has: ·       spinach ·       tomato ·       carrot History of the Popeye cartoon This lovable sailor whose tonic is a can of spinach was the brainchild of Elzie Crisler Segar. In 1929, he sketched the first cartoon strip about him, naming it as Thimble Theatre. This adorable character was actually created a decade ago in 1919 when the cartoonist took a drawing correspondence course from a man in Cleveland. He based Popeye on Frank Fiegel. He had eyesight in one eye, smoked pipes, got himself into brawls, and never turned down a fight. #popeye, #juice, #green, #smoothie, #vegan, #vegetarian, #tomato, #carrot, #health, #healthy, #cartoon, #comic, #strong, #strength, #power, #disability, #theatre, #cartoonist, #brainchild, #theatre, #pipes, #smoking, #tobacco, #history, #AvoidTobacco, #sailor, #sailing, #childhood, #TV, #memories

Skinella Handmade Soap With Essential Oils Mixed Fruit Feed your skin I’m trying to avoid chemical products on my skin. This soap bar with its fruity fragrance smoothly cleanses summer perspiration, dirt, grease, and grime from the skin. It doesn’t over-dry, or over-moisturize it. Instead it restores the pH balance of the skin. Many chemical soaps which vow to be a natural moisturizer, seem to spread a chemical layer over the skin, not giving me a comfortable feeling at all. How was soap invented? Once upon a time, Roman women were doing their laundry in the River Tiber by Sappo Hill. Animal fats from sacrifices ran down into the river, to create a soapy clay lather. They discovered that this water made their clothes cleaner. The Babylonians may have been the first ones to invent soap though. They made it from fats blended with hydrated wood ash. This was to wash clothes though, and was not used as body soap. #soap, #clean, #cleaning, #history, #Rome, #Romans, #Babylon,

Cuckoos Cuckoos are named so for the sweet sounds they make, which resemble the very pronunciation of this word. These shy birds are more heard, than they are seen. There are around 125 species of cuckoos globally. Most of them dwell in forests, and obscure themselves in dense vegetation.   They feast on insects, caterpillars being their favourites. Certain cuckoos don’t raise their own offspring. They lay eggs in bird nests with similar looking eggs like theirs. While they are spared of the task of incubating, other birds warm eggs for them. Certain cuckoos, including road runners, care for their own eggs.   Chlorophyll Only plants have this amazing pigment called chlorophyll, even green animals don’t possess it. I feel that this is the main biological factor which differentiates plants from animals. Some tree trunks, and barks are green as well. The Indian Spurge Tree, (Hedge Euphorbia, or Monosha plant) is bereft of leaves, nevertheless green all over. This green pigment keeps it alive.   Bhutu This cat is Bhutu, she is as tiny as me. An average cat is double her size. Bhutu collaborates with Tutu when it’s time for a meal. Even if one is not hungry, both will come together. If one is served, the other knows that the other will get something. Tutu is loving and grateful. Bhutu only wants to be fed, hardly shows affection, and runs away after eating. #cat, #cats, #kitten, #kittens, #pet, #pets, #animals

Covid Vaccine Mashi wants to take the vaccine for Covid before she leaves for her Kolkata vacation. It has run out in two of the centres in Vasai where we searched for it. The main receptionist at both the places, were extremely rude with us. One doesn’t even look at us in the eye, and often stays silent when asked questions. One centre gave a number, and asked us to call. I got the message that the number was switched off. So, we had to physically visit the place. We have also been told that we may get one vaccine only. If we want the second dosage, it’s unlikely that it’ll be available. We have to go to Mumbai, and search at various places for the second dose.   Time Machine I am unsure as to why I’m wanting to do time travel in my dreams. I saw a dream that my time machine is a simple gas balloon. It’s tied on to me. When I’m floating up, I’m fast forwarding into the future. When I’m sinking, I’m going to the past.   Thorn Why is it that only flowers are pretty? What makes thorns ugly to the human mind? They after all protect the flower which is otherwise too delicate to protect itself. They come in the form of spines and prickles as well. Some leaves have thorn like structures. Often they protect not just flowers and buds, but the entire plant. Life has its share of thorns, through which we learn how to guard ourselves, and emerge as stronger.   Fresh Tangy Juice Champa Mashi made this chilled juice with fresh orange, carrot, and ginger juice. This glass jar has been purchased from DMart in Vasai. History of ginger China is the birth place of ginger.   Its root was beneficial in treating ailments. The Chinese loaded ginger on their ships to fight scurvy while sailing. By 1 st century CE, it had reached the Mediterranean shores through the traders.   Soon, it became a popular spice in Rome. In the medieval times, it was an ingredient for sweets. With the fall of the Roman Empire, the ginger lost its foothold out there. In the 15 th century CE, it was transported to America, and Africa. #ginger, #orange, #carrot, #history, #food, #culinary, #CulinaryHistory, #fruits, #vegetables, #roots, #fresh, #tangy, #juice, #glass, #jar, #orange, #yellow, #chilled, #cooler, #summer, #Chinese, #China, #Roman, #Rome, #America, #Africa, #American, #African, #sea, #travel

Parenting mistakes What are the worst mistakes that you think parents make while raising their kids in 2021? You don't have to have a parent, or child, to answer this. There are kids around you, and I'm sure you are concerned about the next generation. Maybe you have observed the wrong things (according to you) which parents do. Let's not please debate about 'wrong' instead of answering this, as I've made the question subjective. https://pixabay.com/photos/baby-hand-infant-child-father-2416718/ : Picture courtesy (Image by  RitaE  from  Pixabay ) #parent, #parenting, #child, #mother, #father, #baby, #teach, #teaching, #education, #kid, #kids, #2021, #debate, #debating, #subjective, #generation, #question, #questions, #answer, #answers, #parents, #mom, #dad, #mommy, #daddy, #mummy, #grandparents, #mothering, #fathering, #mistakes

Do you want wildlife tourism like this one? I dreamt at night that I was researching for a film about a celebrity family’s so-called eco friendly holiday home in Sunderban in West Bengal (India), which had been built by clearing a huge part of the forest. They had made it in the 1980s, so that their kids would be able to see the jungle’s tigers from closeby. I don’t research for such stupid films at all. So, it was a very weird topic to dream about. The famous family didn’t know that how familiar the tigers were with their forest terrain. They were puzzled to see an enormous tract of land where they roamed about freely, hunted for prey, and taught their cubs so many things, occupied by strange two legged people. Where were the trees with flowers and fruits that they were so known to them? They didn’t want to let go of their home so easily. So, they repeatedly visited their former home turf. This frightened the celebrity family. They were seeing the tigers closer than expected

Colour hearts Symbolic Holi Last year, just before lockdown started in India, Holi was played with great enthusiasm in my building. Maybe, similar play happened elsewhere in India in many places. Then within a few days, Covid cases started to spike. We all have social responsibility to control this pandemic. The curve is inflating in India again. We have a huge population, and not many vaccines now. It’ll take quite some time for our entire population to be vaccinated. Even after the vaccination drive is completed, we may need to take precautionary measures. This time, let Holi for you be symbolic, like it actually should. Instead of colouring people physically, colour their hearts. Add lovely shades of colours to figuratively brighten the lives of humans, animals, birds, and plants. (I DON’T mean splashing actual colour on them. Let’s do something to add happiness to their lives.) ওরে গৃহবাসী খোল , দ্বার খোল , লাগল যে দোল । স্থলে জলে বনতলে লাগল যে দোল । দ
