Covid Vaccine

Mashi wants to take the vaccine for Covid before she leaves for her Kolkata vacation. It has run out in two of the centres in Vasai where we searched for it. The main receptionist at both the places, were extremely rude with us.

One doesn’t even look at us in the eye, and often stays silent when asked questions. One centre gave a number, and asked us to call. I got the message that the number was switched off. So, we had to physically visit the place.

We have also been told that we may get one vaccine only. If we want the second dosage, it’s unlikely that it’ll be available. We have to go to Mumbai, and search at various places for the second dose.

  Man consumes pesticide As I write this, a young man is fighting for his life. He is an alcoholic and is always in and out of jail. This morning he put pesticide in his spirit and drank it. His body is turning cold and he can hardly breathe. He is in a queue for admission to the hospital for the poor where detailed paperwork is going on as protocols dictate that a police case must be registered before further proceeding. These rules delay saving those who attempt suicide. We aren’t sure if this was accidental or deliberate mixing. The treatment of patients who try to take their lives is shocking in supposedly good private hospitals as well.
