Do you want wildlife tourism like this one?

I dreamt at night that I was researching for a film about a celebrity family’s so-called eco friendly holiday home in Sunderban in West Bengal (India), which had been built by clearing a huge part of the forest. They had made it in the 1980s, so that their kids would be able to see the jungle’s tigers from closeby.

I don’t research for such stupid films at all. So, it was a very weird topic to dream about.

The famous family didn’t know that how familiar the tigers were with their forest terrain. They were puzzled to see an enormous tract of land where they roamed about freely, hunted for prey, and taught their cubs so many things, occupied by strange two legged people. Where were the trees with flowers and fruits that they were so known to them?

They didn’t want to let go of their home so easily. So, they repeatedly visited their former home turf. This frightened the celebrity family. They were seeing the tigers closer than expected, that they didn’t want.

This resort was the rich family’s 2021 pandemic tourist resort for a few days. They were acting pricey, and I was waiting on for their interview. Then, hordes of entertainment journalists, and reporters from glossy lifestyle capitalist magazines rushed in to take their bytes, all without a mask. They were all asked to make a queue, to prevent a stampede. Food packets with samosas were distributed to them. They littered the ground.

The PR had created pitches like:

“Up close with the tiger (Real life tales of meeting a tiger face to face.)”

“This is what eco-friendly tourism is all about.”

The journalists were using loudspeakers which were getting louder, and louder. Fortunately, I woke up before I saw more of that rotten dream.
