Mother Earth’s natural perfume

Yesterday it drizzled in the morning. The soothing smell of the damp ground reached my nostrils after months. Rain is the earth’s natural fragrance. Clay, sandy, silty, peaty, chalky, loamy- when fresh rain kisses these soils when dry,  different scents are born. These aromas evolve further when they weave themselves on invisible strings with the vegetation that drapes the earth. Different vegetation will bestow their unique perfumes. If the air is clean, these smells may be purer, maybe heavenly. Pollution will taint the purity of the earth’s innate cologne.
