1.  Whales are gregarious creatures who prefer to live in pods.

2. The infant of a whale is called a calf. A whale gives birth to them every two to three years.

3. The Blue Whale is the biggest animal in the world, bigger than a dinosaur.

4.Whales swim at a speed of 30 miles/ hour.

5.  Whales vocalise through grunts, groans, woops and whistles. Male humpback whales sing, which is a technique to attract mates. Sometimes they may simply sing to enjoy themselves. They change their tunes to avoid boredom.

6. Whales embark on one of the longest migration trails covering thousands of miles.

7.On an average, a whale can stay underwater for an hour after which it must fill its lungs with fresh air.

8.  When whales blow out, it’s not salt water that they are emitting from their blowholes. It’s a mixture of hot air and bacteria which condenses to form water droplets. Rainbows may form when they shoot out water.

9.  Whales have a long life and some of them may live up to 200 years.

10.                   Whales are social animals who can learn, teach, help one another, plan together and mourn.
