The darkest of nights are less murky when scintillating stars illumine it. Similarly, when clouds of despair descend upon life, just a few sparks of joy may revitalise it.

This inspired some young creative souls with a scientific bent of mind to float a new venture. Radioactive elements shine in the dark. Plutonium radiates with an aqua hue, uranium glows green, thorium exudes orange and phosphorous gleams green.

These maverick independent artists from Bengal nurture a fascination for the way phosphorous lights up the dark.  They explain, “Some pieces are made when one is drowned in a phase of life. We create when we are in deep sorrow and feel lost. And these creations help us to get back to life.” That’s why they fondly named their venture Phosphorus.

When quizzed about their initial days, they answer, “Two young friends started this to share their thoughts and perspectives in front of people. We started the project with an original political protest song which was unfortunately taken down. Then we made Meerar Gaan, our second original. The third was Morshumi Chithi. We are on our fourth original Raatri.”

However there are places in this world where it’s warm; and there is sunshine, and plenty of food. What will your instinct tell you to do?
