Lamin from Gambia in Africa PMed me, conveying the distress his family is undergoing. This is the summary of his message. He dropped out of school, after having studied till Grade 9.  Being 17-years-old, he cannot be taken into a job.

He has no memories of his birth mother. His biological father lost his life in a car accident. He was given away for adoption.

His adoptive father has passed away. His adoptive mother, being 87, is too old to work. They currently hardly have food in the kitchen. They often go to bed hungry. His most urgent requirement is a bagful of rice which will feed his family for a month.

If you wish to help him, please contact him directly. This is just one of the many harrowing tales of hunger and starvation in Africa.

  Man consumes pesticide As I write this, a young man is fighting for his life. He is an alcoholic and is always in and out of jail. This morning he put pesticide in his spirit and drank it. His body is turning cold and he can hardly breathe. He is in a queue for admission to the hospital for the poor where detailed paperwork is going on as protocols dictate that a police case must be registered before further proceeding. These rules delay saving those who attempt suicide. We aren’t sure if this was accidental or deliberate mixing. The treatment of patients who try to take their lives is shocking in supposedly good private hospitals as well.
