Job interviews

Instead of the tried and tested interview questions; maybe we could change what we ask. Many of us prepare these answers. Numerous hiring places expect formulaic replies. In fact, the more trite the responses may be, the mundane offices may be all the more impressed. In school, we may give kids entrepreneurship skills as well. Children may be encouraged to ask more innovative questions if they are an employee.

This is what I’d ask a person I was hiring for a creative writing job:

1.              Do you like to hum? What kind of songs do you like to hum? When do you usually hum?

2.            What kind of skies do you like to watch?

3.             What kind of social media posts cheer and upset you?

4.            What do you think of people who love talking to animals?

5.            How should a person with depression be treated?

6.            What do you like to post about on social media?

7.           Is there any film which you’ve watched repeatedly? Which one?

8.             Which animal would you choose to be if you could turn into one for a day/ night?

9.             What do you think and feel when you get to know that a person has a disability?

10.      Some new series on Netflix have a multi-racial cast. Do you prefer seeing this?

11.       How do you think kids with special needs should be taught in schools?

12.     If you read your favourite fictional book backwards (last chapter to the first chapter) for the very first time, how do you think you’d feel?

13.      What are the ways in which you try to combat climate change?

14.     What kind of cloud would you like to be for 24 hours, or more? If clouds are students, would they like to have a teacher like thunder?

15.     If you personified thunder and lightning, would you attribute the feminine, or third gender to them? Or do you think that the masculine gender alone suits them?

16.     Which scents and smells do you like the most? (Certain people cannot smell, or have less ability to do so.)

17.    What do you think of people who degrade feminism, and insist that they rather not be one? What would you tell them?
