Women’s Day 2021

I was a part of a religious organization for almost decade. This institute was like a mousetrap.

They insulted women in the worst way possible. They would dismiss Women’s Day on their so-called godly parameters with the following reasons:

1.        Feminism is Satanic. It’s a form of rebellion against God.

2.        There is too much of hype on Women’s Day.

3.        It is just an excuse women give to wear pink, and makeup.

4.        When is Men’s Day?

Last year, just before lockdown started they decided to mark Women’s Day. The sermon went as follows. It made me volcanic with rage. (This includes inputs from their previous classes as well.)

“Women who wear shorts must be stared at so that they finally feel guilt, and understand it’s a sin.”

“Women are martyrs. They sacrifice their career so that their husbands can have a job. God rewards them for that. Women who prioritize their careers are selfish, and deep into sin.”

“What do men talk about? Business, technology, science, trade, commerce. What about women? (Laughing mockingly with gestures) They ask about jewellery, makeup, and how one another’s husbands are doing.”

“Wives must all submit to their husbands. They understand nothing about finances, can only spend money on shopping. So, they have to surrender their credit cards to their husbands, who are sure to use them wisely.”

“All good wives must have sex whenever their husbands demand it.”

“When a wife has a husband who is cruel to her, she must start fasting, and surrender herself to God. Then only will he stop.”

“Look, this student despite being a boy has decorated his notebook so well. (Girls didn’t get the same credit for the same.)”

Finally chocolates, and candies were distributed to women. I escaped from this institute when lockdown started.

I am now a part of a spiritual organization which supports:

·      Gender equality

·      Feminism

·      Black Lives Matter

·      Climate Change

·      Social equality

Let’s teach children of all genders right from nursery about feminism. This can be done through fun, games, activities, projects, songs, poems, class discussions, quizzes, etc. In future, I’ll make worksheets on the same. I believe in intersectional feminism.

Women’s Day is all about gender equality. If you see anyone ‘celebrating’ Women’s Day like my former religious organization did, please correct them.

  1. I generally get many new followers overnight. I posted on feminism on Women's Day instead of posting pictures of flowers, and chocolates. I love both, but this day is about gender equality. I think there are many people who do not want to see the word 'feminism' being mentioned at all. That is what this day is all about though. Please tell me what kind of wishes you sent, and received today. In the earlier years, I would see discounts on shopping, weight loss schemes like liposuction, and cosmetic surgery. Fortunately, this year, I do not see them. I am all for eating healthy, exercising, and relaxation exercises. I also understand that everyone cannot do that for various reasons, so please do not shame them. Yes, and I love learning about skin and hair care, but am against skin whitening, and products which may harm them more than do good. I will soon start posting on natural skin care. Please stay tuned.
